Privacy
This notice covers our website, project enquiries, meeting bookings and professional outreach. It explains what information we use, why we use it and how to contact us about it.
Who is responsible
Nicolas Ménard is responsible for the personal data described in this notice. Krux is an independent studio in Switzerland and is not yet a registered company.
Postal address: Nicolas Ménard, Räbacher 7, 8143 Stallikon, Switzerland.
You can use the contact address below for questions about your data or to ask us to stop contacting you.
When you visit the website
Cloudflare hosts and delivers our website. Serving and protecting it involves technical information such as your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request and browser information.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page views and website performance. Our site loads its measurement script only for visits that Cloudflare locates in Switzerland; visits from other countries do not load it. This analytics service does not use analytics cookies. Its dashboard makes the previous six months of analytics available.
Cloudflare may use security cookies when checking requests or protecting the site. These are separate from Web Analytics.
If you choose a light or dark theme, we store that choice in your browser under krux-theme. It stays there until you change it or clear this site's browser data. The preference is used to display the site in your chosen theme.
Booking links take you to Cal.com. That service receives information when you visit its booking page and submit a booking. Its own privacy information also applies to how it operates its service.
When you contact us or book a call
We use your name, contact details, company information and the project details you choose to share to respond, discuss whether we can help and keep track of the conversation.
Our email uses Apple's iCloud Mail. Cal.com handles meeting bookings, including your contact details, selected time, answers to booking questions and changes or cancellations. Meeting details also pass to our Apple Calendar. We keep relevant enquiry notes and next steps in Notion.
Our booking link uses Cal Video, powered by Daily.co, for video calls. Automatic recording and automatic transcription in Cal Video are turned off.
Before using Granola, we explain that it processes meeting audio to create a transcript and AI-assisted notes, and ask everyone whether they agree. If anyone declines, we take manual notes instead. Granola stores the resulting transcript and notes, including information discussed about people and projects.
In Nicolas’s Granola account, model improvement and shared-screen snapshots are off, new notes default to Private sharing, and transcripts are set to delete automatically after three months. Meeting notes follow the retention rules below.
Cal.com sends booking confirmations and reminders by email. Our co-founder Benjamin Li also receives a notification when a meeting is booked.
If we contact you about your work
Our current outreach targets software companies in Switzerland whose work appears relevant to our design and engineering services. We use professional information from company websites, public professional profiles, public announcements and introductions.
Our prospect records can include your name, role, company, published professional contact details, source links, relevant business developments and notes on why a service could be useful. We store this information and the status of our conversation in Notion.
Nicolas selects prospects, checks the research, edits each email and sends it himself. We use the information to decide whether a conversation is relevant and to manage a reply or follow-up.
You can reply to any outreach email or contact us below to ask us to stop. We record that request so we do not contact you again about our services.
How AI tools are involved
We use Claude, ChatGPT/Codex and Grok to help research public professional information, summarise relevant findings and prepare drafts. Information provided to a tool, including relevant prospect details and source material, is processed by that tool's provider. A connected tool can also receive information retrieved from Notion for the task.
Model-improvement settings are off in Nicolas’s Claude, ChatGPT and Grok accounts. This does not prevent the providers from processing inputs to deliver their services, applying safety checks or retaining information under their policies.
AI output supports our research and drafting. Nicolas checks the information and decides whether to contact someone. These tools do not send our outreach emails.
Services that receive information
Cloudflare provides hosting, security and Web Analytics; Apple provides email and calendar services; Cal.com provides booking and Cal Video, powered by Daily.co; Granola provides meeting transcription and notes; Notion stores our enquiry and prospect records; Anthropic, OpenAI and SpaceXAI, the provider of Grok, supply the AI tools described above. Their services involve processing by their own suppliers as well.
Provider privacy information is linked below. You can contact us for information about the services involved in your particular enquiry.
Processing outside Switzerland
Our providers process information outside Switzerland. Cal.com and its video provider Daily, Granola, Notion and Grok involve US processing or storage. Apple, Anthropic and OpenAI identify Irish entities for Swiss users and also describe processing in the United States and other countries. Cloudflare operates a global network, with suppliers and support in multiple countries. An Irish contracting entity does not mean information stays in Ireland.
The providers’ published policies and terms describe safeguards for international transfers. Cloudflare describes reliance on the Swiss–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Apple, Cal.com, Granola, Notion, Anthropic and OpenAI describe standard contractual clauses for relevant transfers. Notion’s data-processing addendum specifically adapts these clauses for Swiss data. Grok’s Europe addendum describes these clauses or Data Privacy Framework participation for relevant suppliers. These are contractual or recognised transfer protections; they do not mean all destination countries have the same laws as Switzerland.
The linked provider policies and supplier information explain their processing locations and transfer arrangements. Contact us if you need further information about a service involved in your data.
How long we keep information
We check enquiry and prospect records monthly. We review uncontacted prospects after six months and remove records that no longer have a specific, current business purpose. For conversations that do not become a project, we normally delete or anonymise the records during the monthly check after twelve months without a substantive exchange. We keep information needed for an agreed project, a legal obligation or a dispute for that purpose.
If you ask us not to contact you, we keep the minimum contact identifier and a record of your objection needed to honour that request. This is separate from keeping a full prospect profile.
Provider backups and records required for security or legal obligations may remain after we delete a working copy, under the provider’s own retention rules.
Deleting a Notion record does not by itself remove a copy in email, a booking, a calendar, Granola meeting notes or transcripts, or an AI conversation. We include relevant copies in our retention checks and when handling a deletion request.
Your choices and rights
You can ask whether we process information about you, request access or correction, ask for deletion, or object to its use. Where applicable law provides for it, you can also request a portable copy or restrict processing. If processing depends on your consent, you can withdraw that consent for future processing.
Contact us using the address below and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need enough information to verify your identity. If we need to retain some information or cannot meet a request, we will explain why.
Swiss data-protection law applies to our handling of personal data, together with any other law that applies in your circumstances. You can also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner about a data-protection concern.
